6 drivers again tonight for another fast and furious round of 24th Production racing.
Woody maintained his good form of late by taking TQ, the only one into the 18's, from Chris in 2nd, Keith 3rd and Kev 4th, all in the 17's. Nick was next with 16.35 and Geoff on 14.21
In the B it was a good race between Kev and Nick. Kev took it fairly comfortably in the end with Nick having too many off's and Kev consistently 1-2 laps quicker per segment. All 3 posted PB's, Geoff beating his previous by some 13 laps !!
The "A" was another crackin' race. Woody got an early lap ahead of Keith and Chris a further lap back. Chris came storming back in the 2nd with a 56 to Woody and Keith both on 53, this meant that at half way only half a lap separated Chris and Woody with Keith a couple of laps back. All three then did 55's in the 3rd to leave the situation the same going into the last. Then an absolute 'brain fade' from Chris - he moved his car to Orange lane to finish on, but forgot to change his controller. This proved disasterous for him as he immediately lost a couple of laps or so and obviously upset his mindset. This let Keith catch right up and took 2nd place with a big 55 to Chris's 52. Meanwhile Woody made hay and put in his best segment of the night, 56.70, to run out a relatively comfortable winner by about 3 laps from Keith. Chris's mistake left him in 3rd, 55 feet behind Keith.
This was Woody's 6th win of the Winter Championship campaign and with a 10 point advantage over Chris he looks unassailable at the top - barring disasters.
Off to the 'New Inn' for a couple of lemonades to settle the dust, good to see Paul Dexter, albeit very briefly.
Just 5 drivers tonight for various reasons. Biggest talking point was that Bob asked if it was OK to run a genesis chassis with a brushless motor. Nobody objected so that's waht he ran. Chris's car stripped a gear in qualy and ended up borrowing Bob's spare brushless powered car. The outcome in qualy was that Bob TQ'ed with his brushless (setting a PB time) and Chris was 2nd before breaking down. Keith qualified in 3rd with his Wasp and Kev & Geoff were 4th and 5th with Falcon power.
The B between Geoff and Kev saw Kev taking it a bit easy to preserve tyres but Geoff wasn't too far behind and had some good spells, keeping pace with Kev when he kept it on.
On to the A and it was immediately obvious that Bob and Chris were a class apart from standard Falcon powered cars and even Keith's Wasp. Bob and Chris had quite a good scrap with Chris leading at half way, but Bob picked up and ran out the winner by nearly 3 laps from Chris. Keith had a bit of a lonely race, a bit down on his usual pace to come in 3rd, some 15 laps behind Chris.
I suppose the question is - do we want to allow brushless to run in this class as at the moment they are not BSCRA legal, and they are more equivalent to a Super Wasp than Falcon. Should we award points in the Championship, maybe have a bit of a chat sometime !?
We had time for refreshments at the New Inn again. 🍻
6 drivers tonight for Group 12 Saloon... report coming............
Slightly changed format tonight in an attempt to give everyone 4 lanes of qualy and then run 2 x 3 man finals.
Bob had his problems in qualy and lined up with Keith and Kev for the 'B' final. He picked up to win this one by a couple of laps from Keith and Kev a further couple of laps back in 3rd.
The 'A' final was an absolute cracker. Nick is ever improving and took the lead early on from Woody and steadily increased his lead to nearly a by lap 32, when he had his first off, and then had another a couple of laps later. This let Woody close right up and a nervous last minute or so for Nick saw Woody very gradually whittle down his lead. With only a few seconds to go they were virtualy together and when the power went off they both rolled to a stop just on the 34 foot mark, so, a DEAD HEAT was declared. Fantastic stuff, Nick just denied his first outright win but I'm sure there will be more to come 👏 😃 👍
Off to the 'New Inn' for a pint to settle the dust 🍺
7 drivers again tonight for another fast and furious round of 24th Production racing.
Off to the 'New Inn' for a couple of lemonades to settle the dust, before a nightmare journey home for me with the M1 junction shut it took an hour and 40 minutes to get home 🍺 🤬 🤬 AGAIN....
Just 5 drivers tonight for various reasons and with Kev delayed on the M1 for an hour we were a bit late getting going.......
With Geoff and Kev running Falcon power and Chris, Keith and Woody running with Wasps it was prety obvious what the finals would be.
First up was Kev and Geoff and Geoff is starting to drive with a bit more consistency and put in a decent set of 4 to end up with 159.63 and a PB. Kev was a couple of laps per segment quicker to run in with 168.38 and the win, but a pretty decent race overall.
The "A" was a Chris Master Class, consistently quicker than Woody and Keith although there were times when Woody and Chris were going round together with some very fast but clean racing. Woody was hampered by too many offs allowing Keith to get within striking distance towards the end but Woody was able to hang on and take 2nd place from Keith a couple of laps back and a PB for him. Chris set a new fastest racing lap with a time of 3.225 secs.
We had time for refreshments at the New Inn again. 🍻
7 drivers tonight for Group 12 Saloon and still plenty of PBs on show. Woody continued his good form of late with a TQ of 153.14, some 5 laps ahead of Chris and Keith making a welcome appearance in 3rd and the ever improving Nick taking 4th spot in the A final. Then it was Kev, Ian and Geoff competing in the B.
The B was a good race between all 3 drivers. Ian got an early lead before a couple of offs let Kev through for a while, but a messy few laps from Kev let Ian back in front and he held out for the win by nearly a lap to take 5th overall and Kev 6th. Geoff's car stripped a gear in qualy and Woody lent him a spare. Just shows that Geoff can drive OK with a half decent car as he was only 3 laps or so behind Kev at the finish.
In the A it was Chris who raced off into a early lead for the best part of a minute or so until 3 'offs' around the minute mark let Woody in front and he never looked back. Woody drove the perfect race with not a single off, and a new record total for the finals by 10 feet over the old one. Nick was a bit off the pace but still did a PB and due to Keith having a breakdown he managed a good 3rd place overall.
Off to the 'Dog and Gun' for a noisy pint to settle the dust 🍺
A good turnout for some fast and furious F2 racing, with very few incidents spoiling anyone's racing.
In qualy there were plenty of PB's, in fact everbody posted new bests somewhere along the way including a new best 4 lane total for Chris, beating the previous by just 5 feet. Chris topped the leader board by a couple of laps from Woody and they awaited the outcome of the "B" final.
It was Kev, Ian and Geoff lining up for the 'C' with the top 2 moving up. Kev took this comfortably from Ian with Geoff running in 3rd. In the 'B' there was a good race for 2nd place and a spot in the A final. Bob took the lead and held it all the way to take his place in the 'A' but Nick and Kev had another good race. Nick lead Kev from lap 3 onward and then didn't look back. Several times Kev got pretty close but couldn't quite close the gap to overtake and Nick ran out a relieved 2nd place and a spot in the 'A' final.
On to the 'A' and everything happened in the first minute. Woody took the early lead but couldn't hold it and Chris passed him with that minute or so gone. Woody was then chasing all the way to the flag but couldn't find the speed to catch Chris who ran out winner by about a lap and a half. Meanwhile a similar pattern between Nick and Bob with several changes for 3rd place in the first minute. When they settled down it was Bob who got the race under control for a well contested 3rd place and Nick had to settle for 4th place, 2 laps back.
A bit late finishing so off to the Dog and Gun for tonight's lemonade. 🍻
7 drivers tonight for another fast and furious round of 24th Production racing. Woody maintained his good form of late by taking TQ from Chris in 2nd and Bob 3rd. Then the shoot out for the last spot in the "A" final went to Nick, leaving Kev, Ian and Geoff to contest the "B".
Kev took this one fairly comfortably with a set of a 47, 2x48 and finishing with a good 52 to post a PB of 210.61. Ian was a fair way back (22 laps) for 2nd in the race and Geoff a further 11 laps behind Ian in 3rd.
The "A" was a tale of 2 breakdowns. Both Chris and Nick had car failures in the second segment. Chris had to revert to a spare car to continue and Nick borrowed Woody's spare so he could continue. Both losing alot of laps putting them well down the finishing positions. Meanwhile Woody ands Bob were having a decent race but Woody was just that bit quicker than Bob by 1-2 laps per segment and ran in a decent set to finish on 231.37 to Bob's 223.02 for 1st and 2nd overall. Chris and Nick's woes meant that Kev finished up in 3rd overall with a PB of 210.61 with Ian clinging on to 4th, less than a lap ahead of a fast finishing Chris, then it was Nick in 6th and Geoff 7th.
Off to the 'New Inn' for a couple of lemonades to settle the dust, before a nightmare journey home for me with the M1 junction shut it took an hour and 40 minutes to get home 🍺 🤬 🤬
6 drivers tonight......
Some Personal Bests for Geoff, Bob and Nick in qualifying and for Nick and Kev overall in the Finals.
Just Bob and Chris running Wasp power but Bob not on form and Chris ran out winner by some 24 laps from Bob. Nick showing good pace with his Falcon power, finishing up only 6 laps back from Bob for 3rd place.
Bob replaced the power supply on the computer and tested it successfully on Wednesday night. Sadly when we tried to boot it tonight the same thing happened, so there is obviously a different problem and we have decided to source a new machine.
Anyway, we had 6 drivers for F2 tonight.
A bit late finishing so off to the Dog and Gun for tonight's lemonade. 🍻
