A bit better tonight, 5 drivers..... more to come later

Keith was first up in qualy and his car just didn't look happy resulting in a disappointing total of 15.82. Next up was Chris and although he wasn't quite up to his usual pace his 18.06 was good enough for TQ. Then it was Nick who put in a 15.97, good enough for third place, and Geoff put in a PB of 14.23 but was 5th overall with Kev putting in a 16.32 which was good enough for 2nd overall.

The B final was a 2 man affair with Keith and Geoff and from the off Keith's car was still looking a bit sick, only doing a 26 and letting Geoff get a good lead with 46. Keith decided his car wasn't good enough to continue so was going to retire, but Kev offered his spare car and he decided to carry on. Keith was 20 laps down with 3 segments to go and set about making up some ground, he then did 3 51's but the task was too much to make much of an impression and Geoff finished up a comfortable heat winner and 4th overall.
The A final was probably as expected with Chris a class apart to run out the winner with 237.43 but some 9 laps down on his PB. Meanwhile Nick and Kev had a pretty good tussle but a poor start from Nick put him 7 laps down straight away. He got a couple back in the 2nd but Kev was a bit quicker in the last 2 segments and took 2nd place overall with 213.63 about 7 laps up on Nick's 207.92.

With a 9:35 finish it was time for a couple of lemonades at the New Inn. Nick joined us for a change and Bob arrived half way through racing made us 4 at the pub !!

Only Chris, Kev and Geoff turned up, complete waste of time, effort and £15 quids worth of fuel - again !!
Getting fedup with this guys
😡 😡 😡

Just 4 of us racing tonight, so after Qualy we had 2 x 2man finals. Although Chris had his usual Wasp powered car with him he took up Nick's offer of using his spare Falcon car to keep racing more even. It didn't matter much as Chris TQ'ed with 3.730, closely followed by Nick on 3.793 to make up the A final.
That left Kev and Geoff to contest the B race and with Geoff's car looking alot better than usual it was quite a good race. Kev got a good lead early doors and it was a good job for him that he did as Geoff picked it up in the 2nd and 3rd segments and was actually quicker than Kev at times. If only Geoff could keep it in the slot a bit more...... As it was it finished up with Kev taking the win and 3rd overall by some 5 laps or so from Geoff.

On to the A with Nick and Chris racing and Nick took the first segment for an early slim lead while Chris was getting used to less power with a Falcon. Into the 2nd segment and Chris was starting to thow it around and put in a big 47 to Nick's 41, and then again in the 3rd he did another 47, this time Nick responded with a 45 to leave him 7 laps down with one to go. Chris then finished up with a mid 44 to Nick's 42 and Chris ran out the winner by nearly 9 laps from Nick.

😃 👍

A good turnout of 8 drivers for some good F2 racing tonight, although Chris decided not to race as his controller was behaving unpredictably. In qualy it was Keith setting the pace and TQ'ing, over 5 laps ahead of Woody in 2nd. Although Bob actually qualified in 3rd place his car gave up the ghost in warmup for his third heat, diagnosed as a collapsed axle bearing, so he withdrew from the racing.
We decided to go with a 4 man B race with the first 2 moving up to join Keith and Woody in the A.

In the B Nick and Kev had a great tussle with Kev taking the early lead. Nick was always on his tail throughout the 3 minutes but couldn't quite manage to catch, so Kev ended up the winner and choice of the remianing 2 lanes for the A. He took Yellow but I'm sure Nick wasn't too disapointed with Orange. Corky and Geoff were some way back with Corky taking 3rd and Geoff 4th.

The A final was a bit of a procession with Keith taking the lead from the off and never looked back. Nick got into 2nd spot early doors but after a minute or so he succumbed to Woody and ended up with 3rd place. Keith took the win by some 4 laps+ over Woody and he was a lap and a bit ahead of Nick. The less said about Kev's race the better !! 😌

Time to settle the dust at the New Inn 😃 🍺 🍺 👍 😀 🤞

Another decent turnout of 7 drivers tonight. A bit pushed for time, but - another couple a PBs for Geoff, Chris TQ'd in qualy and ran out a good winner from Bob 2nd, Woody 3rd and Keith 4th. Then it was a good race in the B with Geoff getting more competitive. Corky and Kev had a good race with Kev running out the winner after a late scare, over Corky by a couple of laps and Geoff only 6 laps back.

A good turnout of 7 drivers tonight, Chris working late so turned later up to help out with marshalling. Corky was up first in qualy and posted a decent 3.786 with his Wasp power. It was expected that the 4 Wasp powered drivers would make the top final leaving the 3 Falcon drivers to battle out the B. That wasn't the case though, Keith struggled to get his car round in anything like a representative time and ended up in 5th spot and in the B final. Nick was the surprise package, taking 3rd spot in the A, ahead of Corky and Keith. Geoff set another PB of 4.109 but Kev's car was struggling with handling problems, diagnosed as the body dragging on the track. A snip with the scissors put things right for the race.

It was Keith, Kev and Geoff lining up for the B and from the off it was obvious that Keith's car wasn't going to be competitive as Kev and Geoff went in front and had quite a good battle for a while. Geoff was driving well again and gave Kev a run for his money, but then he started having too many offs and Kev gradually pulled away over the rest of the race and ended up nearly 10 laps ahead of Geoff and would finish up in 4th overall. Keith looked like he would pack in after the first but Woody lent him a car to run the rest of the race with, so he finished the race but with just 37 legal laps to count.

On to the A and Bob took an early lead over Woody and led for the first minute or so. Then an off for Bob and some ham-fisted marshalling (Kev !!, sorry) saw Woody take over the lead. It was a lead that he would hold on to for the rest of the race, despite a few scruffy offs. Bob couldn't keep with him but ran in a good second, some 8 laps back. Meanwhile, Corky and Nick were having their own race with Corky just too quick with his Wasp and half way through the 3rd segment Nick's car suddenly slowed dramatically and Nick had no option but to stop. He substituted a spare car to finish the race, but as with Keith earlier only 113 legal laps would count.
Another win for Woody sees his Championship lead extend to 31 points over Kev in second and Keith third.

Time to settle the dust at the New Inn 😃 🍺 🍺 👍

Another decent turnout tonight with 7 drivers competeing. Great to have Corky back, sounding a bit croaky but otherwise looking good 😊 👍
In qualy Corky was soon up to somewhere near his speed, opening up with a 44+ on Purple and finishing up with a 3 lane total of 136.58, giving Kev a good run for his money, just pipping him for 4th spot by .82 of a lap. Chris and Woody were the 2 setting the pace with Chris taking TQ with 151.89, just 1.32 laps ahead of Woody. Then taking 3rd spot was Bob, but some 8 laps back and Kev made up the top 4.
Perhaps the driver of the night was Geoff - originally he wasn't going to race as his car broke in practice, but Woody generously offered him one of his spare cars. Geoff then proceeded to set PB's all over the place, in fact in every race he was faster than previously. It just shows that he is a much better competitor with some decent kit and I'm sure he must have enjoyed being competitive for a change. Perhaps he should make Woody an offer for that car !! He actually didn't finish up last in qualy, that went to Nick, his car a bit off colour probably needing some better power, and perhaps his legs were a bit chilly ❄️ in those shorts !!!!
In the B final it was Corky, Geoff and Nick and a pretty tight race it was. Corky continued his decent form and lead all the way to the finish, but Nick and Geoff had a great tussle. Nick lead Geoff early on but Geoff got ahead towards the end of the first minute. Geoff then lead Nick until the last half minute or so where they swapped positions 3 or 4 times and in the end it was Geoff taking 2nd spot in the race by about a third of a lap from Nick.
The A final was probably two races in one. Bob and Kev were off the pace of Chris and Woody but they had a reasonable race. Kev kept Bob honest but Bob was just that bit quicker than Kev and he took 3rd place with 47.22 and Kev some 2 1/2 laps behind in 4th. Meanwhile the leaders were having a great battle. Chris lead for the first minute or so then Woody took over for a few laps. The lead then swapped 3 times in the middle minute and Woody emerged as leader going into the last minute. Chris was never far behind and the two a great race with Woody edging out Chris by just 3 feet 😌

Sady no racing tonight with Nationals prep high on driver's agenda.

Only 4 drivers tonight, but along with Chris to marshal we had enough for some half decent racing. Keith and Woody were running with Super Wasp power but somehow Keith's motor was struggling a bit and he could only post a very modest time of 4.026 while Woody was a fair bit quicker and TQ'ed with 3.599. Keith's problem meant Kev, with falcon power, was able to take 2nd place and a race against Woody in the A final. Geoff, meanwhile, was also having a problem, his car sounding worse and worse. A quick look revealed a very loose axle bearing and the only temporary fix we could make was to pack it out with some braid to plug the gap - it worked !!!!

Keith and Geoff lined up for the B and it was obvious from the start that Keith's motor problem had cleared itself and he was back to somewhere near normal speed and finished up with a total of 179.70 which was good enough for an eventual 2nd overall. Geoff's axle problem happened again and a brief stop for a further repair saw him able to finish the race with 148.21.
In the A Kev was no match for Woody's Wasp power and it was a virtual demonstration run for Woody and a finishing total of 190.83 was a comfortable win. Kev was just about on his PB numbers and ended up 2nd in the race and 3rd overall.

Time to settle the dust at the New Inn 😃 🍺 🍺 👍

Just 5 drivers tonight but still some good racing. We decided to race on 3 lanes with 2 marshals and it actually worked quite well with not too many track calls. A few personal for bests Keith in qualy, including a new lap record on Blue lane of 46.24, beating the old one by 40 feet. He also had PB's on Yellow and Purple to complete the set. This made Keith TQ with a 2 lane total of 91.81 (another PB) 1 lap ahead of Chris in second. These 2 went straight into the A final and awaited the outcome of the B, comprising Woody, Bob and Kev who finished qualy in that order.

The B final was a good race particularly between Bob and Kev. Woody charged off into the lead and disappeared into the distance to take a comfortable win with a total of 45.83. Meanwhile, Kev and Bob were having their own battle for second spot. Kev actually lead for most of the race but with the lead changing 3 times Bob caught and passed him with about 30 seconds to go and took 2nd by just 11 feet.
Woody moved up to contest the A final alongside Keith and Chris. This turned out to be a good scrap between Keith and Woody with Chris just off the pace tonight. From the off it was Keith who took an early lead and he managed to hang to it all the way. By the end of the first minute he had stretched the lead to about half a lap and although Woody was keeping pace with him, he couldn't close the gap. The eventual outcome was a win for Keith with Woody that halp a lap back and Chris taking 3rd spot, nearly 3 laps back from Woody.

Time to settle the dust at the New Inn 😃 🍺 🍺 👍
