Club Cars
Keith on form tonight with a couple of PB's to record another PB total of 183.78 to take top spot from Woody by 2 1/2 laps or so, then came Kev, Nick and Geoff. Keith also took the handicap by a 9 lap margin from Kev, Woody, Nick and Geoff.

Open Class - 32nd Group 12 Saloon

Some really good Saloon racing with a 4 man, 3 minute final seeded from Qualy. Kev's car stripped gears early on with what turned out to be his motor out so didn't really paricipate, and Nick was having intermittent problems with his but managed 3 decent runs to take 3rd spot. Keith was in good form and took TQ by a couple of laps or so from Woody.

Nick decided that his saloon car was not in a fit state to run so he ran his Eagle powered genesis Sports car as a token. He and Geoff had a decent tussle with Nick just keeping his nose in front to beat Geoff by exactly 1 lap, but Geoff took 3rd place points.
Meanwhile Woody and Keith were having a battle Royale. The lead changed 2 or 3 times early on until Woody got in front and stayed there. The next 25 laps or so saw some fantastically close racing. Woody stayed in front but Keith was never much more than 2/10th of a second behind, as if they were tied together with a piece of string. A late lunge from Keith and he had a terminal 'off' to give Woody the win by just over 1 second and 31 feet. Breathtaking stuff

Open Class - 32nd Formula 2

Some really good 1/32nd Formula 2 racing tonight. Keith was the form man, although Kev took TQ by just 3 feet ! Nick and Bob moved up from the 'B' to join Keith and Kev. An early tangle between Kev and Nick in the esses virtually put paid to their race so Keith and Bob fought it out for the win. Keith was cleaner and marginally quicker and he ran out winner from Bob by exactly 1 lap. Kev and Nick continued their battle for 3rd place with Nick just edging it from Kev by 7 feet....!!!

Some really good and enjoyable racing again... 🍺 🍺

Just 4 drivers tonight so we ran 24th Saloon Club Cars followed by 24thProduction Saloons. With just 4 drivers we had to run in 2's and go thru twice for each class.

Some very competitive and enjoyable racing. Woody was consistently quicker across all the lanes by a couple of laps per segment and was relatively untroubled for a comfortable win. On the other hand Keith and Kev were pretty close all the way, although it wasn't obvious as the race progressed. Keith just had his nose in front all the way, but only just, as he ran out in 2nd spot by only .98 of a lap over Kev. Geoff had a bit of an off night and was a further 6 laps back for 4th.

Open Class - 24th Production Saloon

Same format as above. This was a very close battle between Woody and Keith in particular. As usual Woody was slightly quicker than Keith, until it came to his 3rd segment on purple. It became obvious towards the end that his gear was failing, but he managed to get to the end of the segment, albeit giving Keith a few laps in the process. A repair was done in lane change (club rules !!) and he was back up to speed for his last segment, although some 6 laps back of Keith. Keith wasn't bothered and kept up a decent pace and although Woody was slightly quicker he couldn't make up the loss and Keith ran out winner by 3 1/2 laps or so. Great stuff !!
Meanwhile Kev and Geoff were both a bit lonely, but Kev had a reasonable series, finishing just short of 200 laps for 3rd place, but Geoff was quite a bit down on his normal pace and finished up in 4th some 25 laps behind Kev.

Overall we had a good night with some very good racing. A bit late for the New Inn so it was the Dog & Gun, and a very nice drop of Pedigree 😃 🍺

Club Cars
Just 3 drivers tonight plus Chris on RC.
First up we ran the 32nd Sports Club Cars and Woody was in his usual good form and consistently 2 or 3 lap quicker than Geoff and Kev and ran out a comfortable winner by 11 laps or so. Geoff and Kev were having a good race. Going into the last segment Kev had a slender 20 feet lead but a storming run on Blue by Geoff saw him claw that back and take 2nd spot by 58 feet. Great stuff !!

On handicap it was even closer with Woody still the winner but by only 3 ish laps. Incredibly Geoff and Kev were separated by just 1 foot !!

No racing again tonight due to unavailabilities for a variety of reasons....!!

Open Class - 24th Production Saloon
6 drivers tonight with a welcome visit from Gavin Wills and Sammy Brown from the Rockingham club, their first time at the club.
We decided to run the 24th Production Saloon first and Gavin was soon getting up to speed in practice with a well set up car. Sammy struggled a bit to get to grips with the track but was getting better all the time.

We had the proper qualifying so the finish totals were race laps + qualy laps. The luck of the draw had Gavin up first and he put up a very creditable run of 16.82, which was only to be bettered by Woody's 17.15 and the A lineup was completed by Keith with a 15.90. That left Kev, Geoff and Sammy in the 'B' final.

24th Saloon Club Cars

Back to just 4 drivers so we had to run in 2's and go thru twice for each class. Nevertheless, some great and very competitive and enjoyable racing. Woody and Keith seemed to be in their own race and finished up 1 and 2 but a poor run on Yellow for Keith let him down as he finished up just 20 feet back in 2nd place, so a close win for Woody. Geoff and Kev also had quite a tight race and very close all the way. Kev just managed to edge 3rd spot by just over a lap. Great stuff all round.

Open Class - Group 12 Saloon

Same format as above. This was a very spread out affair and nowhere near as close as the club cars. Another win for Woody who was 14 laps ahead of Keith and he was 7 laps ahead of Kev and Kev was 9 laps ahead of Geoff.

Overall we had a good night with some very close racing, particularly with the club cars.
A bit late for the New Inn so it was the Dog & Gun, and a very nice drop of Pedigree 😃 🍺
