Got the results now. A good turnout with Keith back giving his eyesight a go, and Dean and his son Arron
joining us. Kev traffic gridlocked in Burton and didn't make it.
Some quotes from Whatsapp...
...Woody...
"Good evenings racing yesterday. Great to see @Keith Packer going really fast on his return. @~Dean was making great progress, need to sort him his own car. Dean’s son Arron was also a visitor and was impressively fast, it’s a shame he won’t be a regular visitor as he doesn’t live close enough."
...Keith...
"Was very pleasantly shocked at how well the night went. Cars and driver were largely ok in practice and racing was much better than I expected. Great to be competitive. Aaron was scarily quick for a first time on the track especially as he's not even done many slotstox meetings last winter. As Woody says it's a shame he's not closer."
...Nick...
"Yes. An enjoyable nights racing. Fixed the purple club car. Bad connection on lead wire. Great to have Dean & Arron with us and hope they can make it again soon. Next week should be the challenge of minis followed by 32nd sports."

Looks like there was a problem with the Purple car half way thru, so only 3 lanes to count.
We had a decent turnout tonight, Bob joined us and brought along a neighbour, Graham (McDuff ??) and along with Corky that made 6 of us to race with Woody away in Prague.
Corky wasn't sure if he was up for 2 classes of racing so we decided to run F2 first and with 6 drivers we actually ran Qualifying and 'move up' finals for the first time in nearly a year !!
We followed this with Club Minis, Nick had managed to cobble together 4 cars, and they ran OK.

So, back to proper qualifying with 6 drivers racing. The top 3 went straight into the 'A' final, Nick TQ'ed then Bob and Corky, while the others - Geoff, GrahamM and Kev - battled it out for the last place in the 'A'. This turned out to be Kev with a pretty trouble free run to win by 5 laps or so from Geoff. GrahamM was making good progress seeing as though this was the very first time he had driven a 'proper' slot car and he finished up just 5 laps-ish behind Geoff. Bodes well for the future.
The A final turned out to be quite a close run thing, Bob had fixed a problem with his car and was slightly quicker than Qualy and he ran out the overall wineer by 1 1/2 laps from Corky having a great run for 2nd spot. Nick and Kev were having a good tussle but with Nick having a 'scruffy' race Kev managed to get ahead of him for 3rd place by 27 bits. Good stuff.....

32nd Club Minis
Corky decided he was OK to race but Bob & Kev gave it a miss so we ran a 4-man segmented race. A bit frantic at times but we got through it - eventually....
Some really good and enjoyable racing again but a bit late finishing so 4 of us off to the Dog & Gun(it was open !!)... 🍺 🍺
