and then...

Struggling a bit for time so a quick resume.
6 drivers for 24th Production Saloon.... Bob TQ'ed with a 16.29. Then moving on to the B final a really good win for Ian who's improving all the time.
In the A final Bob was uncatchable and set a new fastest lap and the first sub 3 second lap at 2.926 seconds. A good 2nd for Nick with Corky 3rd.

June 23rd - 32nd Sports/GT

8 drivers tonight and good to have Corky back with his broken bones mended. Still missing Woody though, recovering from a bout of chronic bronchitis, get well soon Woody.

In qualy Chris is still in a class of his own and was a good 3 tenths quicker than Keith in 2nd and posted a new Overall Best time of 3.339 along the way. Bob had a disaster, stripping a gear early on and not able to repair in time to put in a representative time, so he was relegated to the B final. Corky was running a Wasp for the first time and took 3rd spot and an ever improving Ian took his place in the A with his Falcon. That left Kev, George, Bob and Geoff to contest the "B" final.

The B final was pretty predictable with Bob and his mended Wasp powered car significantly quickest of the field and easily ran out the winner, posting a decent finishing total of 183.82, albeit with an ailing motor towards the end. Kev and George probably had the best race, with Kev just that bit quicker and George lapsing his concentration at times meant that Kev took 2nd place in the race and George 3rd about 5 laps or so behind Kev. Geoff had a bad night with his brakes failing intermitently to trail in in 4th spot.
There was an early problem for Keith in the A final - a marshaling malfunction put his body into the gears and he eventually had to rip away most of the rear so he could continue. That was a pity as his car was quick but he lost a good 2 or 3 laps in the first segment. Once again Chris was comfortably quicker than anyone and had an untroubled run in to the finish to take the win with 195.10 laps, some 10 laps or so ahead of Keith in second. The race was on, though, between Corky and Ian and at half way they were neck and neck on 83 laps apeice. Then Corky had a poor run on Orange with only 39 laps, but Ian had a stonker with 44 laps to take him 5 laps ahead going into the last. Although Corky pulled a couple back in the 4th the damage was done and Ian finished off with an excellent 43 on Purple to finish 3 laps ahead of Corky and take a good 4th place overall.

Just a footnote - after racing Chris let George have a run round with his winning Wasp powered car and he looked good. He got his lap time into the 3.5's which would have put him 2nd in qualy !! I wonder what's on his Christmas list ✍️ 🎅

As we finished quite early 5 of us decided to have our post race refreshment at the New Inn for a change 🍻

Jun 9th Formula 2

6 drivers again for Formula 2 tonight.... and plenty more Personal Bests as this was only the 3rd time we have run F2 with reliable timing. To make sure we had 3 marshals we ran each heat with 3 drivers and missed out Purple lane this time round, this doesn't matter too much as the best 2 segments count for qualy. Chris TQ'ed a good 3 laps ahead of Bob and these 2 waited the winner from the B. The C race was Geoff and Kev and Nick and Ian were waiting for the winner of this one.

The first move up final was between Geoff and Kev and Kev took this comfortably to move up to the B with Nick and Ian. Kev's car was a bit off colour so he didn't feature much, but Nick and Ian had a good tussle. Nick had it under control most of the time with Ian driving very well with a quick car. The odd momentary lapse of concentration meant that he never quite caught up with Nick, but he kept him on his toes and Nick ran out the winner to move up to the A.
In the A it was Chris once again with the pace to gradually pull away and take the win comfortably by 3 laps or so. Bob and Nick had a decent race with never too much between them and Nick was gradually improving over the night. Bob stayed ahead all the way and in the end was less than a lap ahead of Nick to take 2nd overall.
As we finished quite early we decided to have our post race refreshment at the New Inn for a change 🍻

7 drivers tonight for Genesis Club Cars.
RC data is here, (open in a new window).

note: I am in the process of updating PB's and Handicaps.

and then...

7 drivers for 24th Production Saloon.... Bob TQ'ed with a modest total of 16.45 with Chris just 5 bits behind, Keith another 5 bits back in 3rd and Nick making up the A final with 16.08. Kev, Ian and Geoff making up the B.

The B was a good race mainly between Kev and Ian. Kev got a 6 lap lead early on but Ian gradually got quicker and whittled away Kev's lead. Going into the last there was just 2 and a bit laps between them but Kev drove a good last segment to finish with a 3 ish lap lead. Ian is certainly driving alot quicker now he's got to grips with the track.
In the A Chris got a slender early lead of a lap over Bob and it was the same gap at half way. Bob then put in a stonking run on Purple to take a 2 lap lead into the last segment. He made another lap in the fourth to finish up with the win by exactly 3 laps over Chris. Keith was slightly off the pace but comfortably quicker than Nick. Keith finished up in 3rd overall and Nick took 4th. Fifth went to Kev then Ian in sixth and Geoff 7th.

May 12th 2022

Despite the absence of Kev through illness we had a bumper turnout of 10 drivers for 1/32 GP12 saloon. A welcome return of George after too long an absence but he soon showed that he remembered how to get around better than his dad. First visit for Ben who quickly learned the track and would probably have made the A final if it hadn't been for a shortage of tyres. Ian got the better of Geoff in the two man C final. Ben showed how quick he could be to win the B final from Corky, Nick and George. Chris had been breaking track records in the heats but chose the wrong tyres for the final and Keith took the overall win from Chris with Bob third and Woody having too many offs.

May 5th Formula 2

6 drivers tonight.... and plenty of Personal Best as this was only the 2nd time we have run F2 with reliable timing. To make sure we had 3 marshals we ran each heat with 3 drivers and missed out Orange lane, this doesn't matter too much as the best 2 segments count for qualy. Chris maintains his good form setting new records on Blue and Purple lanes and a new best 2 total. 2nd spot went to Corky (he abandoned his experimental aerodynamics from last time !!) but he was some 8 laps or so back.

The first move up final was between Geoff and Kev and Kev took this comfortably to move up to the B with Bob and Nick. In this one, Nick hardly got off the line as his gears stripped almost immediately. Strangely he reckons the armature stack had moved, making the gears out of mesh !!! This meant only Bob and Kev were competing for a place in the A. Bob proved a bit quicker than Kev and ran out the winner by a couple of laps.
Chris continued his good form to win the A from Bob and then Corky in 3rd.

As we finished quite early we decided to have our post race refreshment at the New Inn for a change 🍻

April 28th 2022

6 drivers tonight.... Chris TQ'ed with a new record total of 18.53 with Woody 2nd and Bob 3rd, both also beating the previous record total. These 3 made up the A final with Corky, Kev and Geoff making up the B.

The B was a bit of a procession with the 3 drivers at diferent pace. Corky was an easy winner finishing on 208.77, he was 17 laps or so ahead of Kev and Geoff was a further 15 laps behind Kev.
In the A there were a couple of disasters that probably affected the result. Chris was the early leader but a slipping gear half way through saw him lose probably 12 laps or so fixing it. At half way it was Bob with a 4 lap lead over Woody with Chris on a catch up mission lapping the quickest. Then disaster for Woody in the 3rd. A big shunt on the back straight and his car went no further, a suspected bent can seizing up the motor. This left Bob with a comfortable run in for the win and a fast finishing Chris took 2nd, despite his problem.
